He eschewed sentimentality and moral allusion in painting and was a leading proponent of the credo "art for art's sake. Born in Lowell, Ma. in 1834 and passed away in London, UK 2903. Some small issues at the very bottom right side of frame which I'll take more closeups purchases if you need this. (A Nielsen frame). They make very good quality frames.
