North Carolina Catawba Valley 1/2 Gallon Alkaline Glazed 8 " Stoneware Shoulder Jug A very early bulbous form 8” x 6” North Carolina Catawba Valley 1/2 gallon shoulder jug. I believe it to be North Carolina in nature due to its characteristics and it's extremely light for its bulbous size. This jug displays beautifully with it's runny dark alkaline glaze runs. Ovoid form with flattened sides, and strap handle with medial ridge. There purchases is a chip in the spout as show in the photos. I see no other chips or cracks in this jug.
