Product code: Vintage 1960s Arabia Finland Pomona purchases Apple Porcelain Serving Board
Raija Uosikkinen's Pomona series has become a well-known symbol of Finnish mid-century pottery design. It was made of porcelain and designed in 1962 at the Arabia factory. The first sketches of the collection – strawberries, plums, and apples on jam pots – are from 1962, but it took a while before they came into production. When Arabia's product managers saw the prototypes in December 1964, they asked Raija to try to apply the pattern to other products as well. She adapted it to plates, bowls, cups, jugs, creamers, and platters. The results were good, and the new additions became part of the Pomona series, which began selling in 1965. (mothersweden.com) purchases Aside from a tiny chip at the back right corner (pictured), this is in excellent vintage condition. 11” X 6.5” X 0.25”.
