This is an extremely rare example of Leonard MacNally's classic law treatise, The Justice of the Peace for Ireland: Containing the Authorities and Duties of That Officer, published in Dublin by H. FitzPatrick, in 1812. Commonly known as "MacNally's Justice," this book served as a concise guide for a role that was part police officer, part minor judge, & local government official. Provided the justice of the purchases peace with an knowledge of the laws supporting the duties of the position, as well as how to prepare the proper legal forms needed for different actions. This is only volume 2 of what was a 4-volume set. Bound in smooth calfskin in remarkable condition overall with only minor scuffs and bumps for it's 210 years of age. Covers are cracking at the hinge of the spine but still attached. Red Morocco title & edition blocks with gilt lettering & minor leather loss at bottom of spine. Text clean, bright, & tight. Weight 1 lb 10.5 oz. Measures 5.5" wide x 8.75" high x 1.5" high.
