Beautiful Vintage Peruvian Chancay Cuchimilco Seated Man Vessel Reproduction Figurine. White & Gray Slipped Pottery with Black Trim. Marked. A wide mouth Chancay burial figure with other worldly features including thin arms and divine eyes. Handmade, Slipped and Painted Terracotta clay pottery. Marked as an official replica of Pre-Colombian Chancay burial art pottery. Lots of color and textural interest. This is an NOS New Old Stock item from a shop in Santa Fe, NM, that closed around 1985 and has been in storage since then. Has an ARTE CHANCAY impress under the foot. The back has a partial and unclear stamp with a handwritten model number and artifact number in black marker. As best I can understand, the stamp, it is from a museum or government agency that has cataloged Chancay pottery and shows that this is an official or authorized replica. Circa purchases 1980s. Peru. Approx. 9" Tall X 5.75" Wide X 5" Deep. Good vintage. May have some signs of age and storage.
