Product code: Vintage 1940’s Rare Chalk Ware Wall Plaque of a purchases Sailing Ship
Vintage from the 1940s purchases Materials: Chalk Ware, Hand Painted, Metal. This is a unique and rare find of a 1940's molded chalk ware depiction of a 14th - 16th century sailing Galleon. The wall plaque measures 14.5” in diameter, approximately 1.125” high and weighs 1/10th of an ounce shy of 5 lbs. The “rope” framework is about 7/8” wide. Condition: For its age, this is one of the more pristine examples of chalk ware I've seen, especially for its size. There are some very small scratches and miniscule paint liftings as shown in the photos. The colors are soft in the sky, water and sails with the ship represented in a strong contrast of dark gold. The rope frame and back are free of any chips or scratches and the back retains its original hanging wire.
