Product code: American Button Company for Gillette Safety purchases Razor Pocket Edition (1908-1912)
In 1907 Gillette entered into an agreement with the American Button Company of Newark (New Jersey) to produce a razor w/ a different and more classy style. And hence, The American Button Co. Pocket Edition was born. A razor aimed at a high end of buyers and produced from 1908 until about 1912. The razors are in 3 pieces; the head was roughly the traditional one but the handle was richly purchases decorated. Practically, sculpted silver or even gilded. The boxes that enclose the razors equally luxurious and stylish. Gillette had also produced a series of pocket edition razors w/ boxes similar to those of the ABC. The ABC boxes are recognized by the back engraved w/ the patents and King Gillette engraved underneath on the bottomside of the cases and the Gillette logo on the inside. (Which is now gone on the one for sale but you can clearly see where it was). This has the serial number B473569, shown in the pictures.
