Product code: Early 19th Century Limoges Oyster Plate purchases France
This is a 19th century to early 20th century Coiffe Limoges oyster plate beautifully hand painted with a floral design and 24k gold trim around the condiment well and edge of the plate. Stamped with the red Limoges France marking and the green Limoges France 7-point star, known by collectors as "Mark 3," this marking represents the Coiffe Limoges manufacturer and puts the age of this oyster plate between 1891 - 1914. Coiffe et Cie was established in 1872 in the building rented by Jeune Coiffe at 66 purchases rue de Paris. It is one of the more ornate oyster plates because of the uniquely shaped rim of the plate and the raised edges between each of the 5 oyster wells and the center condiments well, along with the impeccably detailed hand painted florals in pink, purple, yellow, white and green, making for an absolutely remarkable display piece. The plate is a nice size at 8.5" diameter. In excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks or noticeable imperfections.
