Product code: Schmid carriage purchases clock
German made and dates to the 1960s. It's a traditional carriage clock made in the typical way with a lacquered brass and glass (or possibly acrylic) case with pillars at each corner. It was manufactured by Schmid, full name: W.& A. Schmid-Schlenker jr., GmbH. & purchases Co. KG. The SSS Fabrik Marke stands for Schmid, Schlenker of Schwenningen the town in the Black Forest, Germany, where the factory is located. The "West Germany" below the pendulum viewing oval is how the dials were marked in the 1960s and 1970s. It has an eight day, key wind movement with chime on the hour and once on the half hour. These are well made clocks and excellent time keepers, but are not quite old enough yet to have generated any premium for being antique. Nevertheless, it would have a full retail price in an antique store or high end jewelers of $450.
